Bilal Tarabey is a Lebanese award-winning photographer based in Beirut. In 2016, his series Al Aawda about his return to his home country Lebanon, was awarded First Prize at the Photomed Liban Photography Festival. Tarabay is currently working on his new series, entitled Al Tahawol, about the transformation of his neighborhood Mar Mikhael, where members of his family have settled since the 1960s. Tarabay was born in 1982 in Paris, France, where he studied musicology and journalism. Prior to his return, he worked for the AFP Photo agency. In 2013, U.S. Time magazine selected one of his pictures as one of the “most surprising photos of the year.” He is now a member of the French independent photojournalists agency Le Pictorium.
